Lauren VanHouten, PA-C earned her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and her Bachelor’s Degree in Health professions from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.
Her clinical experiences during this time focused on rural medical care in northern Michigan. She also worked closely with a free clinic in Grand Rapids, MI on her master’s thesis identifying the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the uninsured. These experiences helped foster her passion for underserved medical care
Lauren’s previous professional experiences include providing care to the underserved and homeless of West Michigan where she focused on chronic disease management, psychiatric care, substance abuse treatment, family medicine and pediatric care.
Professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants.
Lauren is also fluent in Spanish as she spent her early childhood with her family on the island of Puerto Rico.
When she is not providing care to her patients she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and staying active outdoors.
