Angelea Anderson, LMSW

Angelea Anderson, LMSW is a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where she received her Master of Social Work degree. She obtained her Bachelor of Social work degree from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is licensed by the State of Michigan as a Master of Social Worker with a clinical specialty.


Angelea is a passionate advocate for children and families. Angelea’s work experience includes child welfare, medical social work across the life span, substance use disorder (SUD) counseling, private practice and working with children who qualify for the Serious Emotional Disturbances Waiver (SEDW). Her other trainings and certifications include: certified facilitator for the Parenting with Love and Logic Curriculum, certified in Psychological First Aid (PFA), and a trained facilitator in TF-CBT Caregiver Education.

Angelea utilizes a skill set from evidence based and/or evidence informed practices which includes Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths and Strategies and theories based on Love and Logic teachings to reduce symptoms and maximize recovery. She encourages self-advocacy in her patients and teaches coping strategies and provides psychoeducation, therapeutic interventions and support for children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Additionally, Angelea has experience working with those who struggle with addiction, trauma, parenting, co-parenting, severe and persistent mental illness, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief/loss, self-esteem, domestic violence, anger management, neurodiversity, life transitions and who are involved with the child welfare system.

Angelea is married and the mother of three adult children and grandmother of four. She loves her dog, yoga, bike rides, walks on the beach, watersports, and color tours. She enjoys watching football and basketball—Go green! In her spare time, she likes to shop, travel and hangout with her friends and family.
