Youla Overbey, MA, LPC, received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from Deree College, The American College of Greece. Youla is fluent in Greek (her native tongue) and English, and has studied Spanish, French and Italian.
Her prior work experience includes working in Child Welfare providing in-home services and case management to at- risk families, providing in-school counseling services and working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of areas, including parenting, post-traumatic stress, and domestic violence.
Youla utilizes an integrative approach to counseling that focuses on honoring and infusing hope into the counselee’s life. She believes that when individuals find meaning and purpose, even in the midst of adverse circumstances, they are empowered to confront issues and bring restoration to themselves and their families.
Married to her husband Taylor for 18 years; they have two children and a rescued miniature poodle. Youla enjoys reading, golfing, traveling, playing backgammon, and exploring different cultures.
