Rillastine Wilkins

Rillastine is a long-time Hackley Community Care Board member and a very much respected community leader. Currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the Muskegon County Board of Commissioners, her prior political positions include Mayor of the City of Muskegon Heights, President of the Progressive Democratic Women’s Caucus, Vice-Chair of Muskegon County Democratic party, President, National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, Michigan Municipal League, National League of Cities Human Development, Muskegon County Building Authority, Muskegon Regional Planning Commission, State of Michigan Women in Municipal government, Muskegon Heights Zoning Board of Appeals (to name a few).

“I always want the best for my community and the people of my community. This is why I am passionate about serving on the Hackley Community Care board. Everyone deserves to have full, enriched lives”. This is why her list of Civic and Community affiliations is just as extensive and includes Co-Founder and host of her FOCUS television show, Muskegon Blue Sky Lions Club, Muskegon Oceana Community Action Partnership, founding member of the Muskegon Community Health Project, Tri-Area Substance Abuse Advisory Council, Black Women’s Political Caucus, Muskegon Chamber of Commerce, Muskegon Branch NAACP and many others.

Rillastine was born in Taft, OK and attended the University of Wisconsin, the Technical Instructors Institute and Muskegon Business College. She retired from General Telephone Company (now Verizon) after 34 years of service.
