Melissa Richards, LMSW

Melissa Richards, LMSW, is a Licensed Therapist in the State of Michigan. She received her Masters of Social Work Degree from Western Michigan University’s campus in Grand Rapids, MI, and her Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.

Melissa’s experience includes work within the Community Mental Health model. Including working with youth and families experiencing Crisis, home-based services, and providing outpatient therapy to both youth and adults. While working for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, Melissa, has worked to assist victims and survivors of intimate partner violence and linking tribal families to needed resources. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy technique that enables people to heal from symptoms and emotional distress.

Melissa is looking forward to providing therapeutic support for youth in the Whitehall School system. She has lived in the community her whole life and has benefited from the support of teachers, family, and friends while pursuing her career.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time at home, spending time outdoors and trying new things.
