Jamie Dickinson, PA-C, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Bio Medical Health Sciences and earned her Master’s Degree of Physician Assistant from Grand Valley State University. She chose medicine because it is exciting, interesting and challenging. “Medicine is a constantly changing and growing field that keeps you learning. I chose primary care because it covers the greatest variety of issues and concerns”.
Jamie grew up in Lansing, MI and joined Hackley Community Care in April 2007 because she felt passionate about helping the patients in this community. She joined the Teen Health Center staff in January 2012. “I have always loved working with adolescents because I enjoy the interaction and challenge of educating them on health related concerns and helping them with any issues they may have. Being at the Teen Health center, I get to spend a little more time talking to the student about things they can do to protect themselves and keep themselves healthier”.
Jamie actively engages each adolescent that frequents the Teen Health Center for services and enjoys being able to mingle within the high school environment providing health education via bulletin boards and group interactions. She is open to ideas that students may have for activities pertaining to their health. “I really want students to feel comfortable and welcome when they see me at the Teen Health Center. I hope that we can form a relationship where they are comfortable being open and honest with me about anything they may want to discuss. I want them to know they are being listened to”.
When she is not busy taking care of the patients in our community, Jamie likes to spend her free time reading, boating/beach outings, and sports (basketball and softball). Jamie is married and they are blessed with one son that she says keeps her on her toes!
