Shelly Tjapkes, LPC, is a Behavioral Health Consultant providing therapy and case management to families and children. She earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Theology with an emphasis on Christian Counseling from Vision University.
Her prior work experience includes substance abuse counseling for adolescents, mental health services in nine various local schools, play therapy, trauma therapy and sexual abuse therapy. Shelly has spoken at national conferences on supporting parents of sexually abused children.
The mother of two adult children and seven grandchildren, Shelly loves spending quality time with her family whenever possible. She relaxes by enjoying the beach and scuba diving. Shelly also trains her English Springer Spaniel (Harriet) to compete in agility competitions, and Harriet is also in training to be a therapy dog.
